Eyecare & Ocular Diagnostics

The Eyecare and Ocular Diagnostic Service provides complete vision care for individuals of all ages. The service evaluates and treats patients with a wide range of conditions. In addition to evaluating for common refractive conditions such as nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism, a comprehensive examination is also designed to evaluate all other aspects of vision and vision performance.

Specialties include glaucoma, neuro-optometry, vision therapy, myopia control, contact lens and orthokeratology, retinal disease, and cornea and external eye diseases including dry eye. Procedures include advanced perimetry, nyktometry (night vision test), pachymetry, anterior and posterior segment photography, gonioscopy, binocular indirect ophthalmoscopy. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) procedure is also available to patients with retinal, optic nerve and ganglion cell disorders. A complete assessment of both internal and external eye health is performed. Glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataracts are examples of some of the more common eye diseases that can be detected. A professional eye exam can often reveal early stages of general health problems including diabetes, high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, or brain tumors.

Sports Vision

Your ability to play sports is dependent upon your ability to see, interpret what you see quickly, and respond correctly to that visual information. Vision is the guiding sense for most sports, and sports vision training is an important factor in peak athletic performance. A Sports Vision Examination is a thorough evaluation of your individual visual system as it pertains to your specific sports performance and demands. Our comprehensive sports vision evaluations look at your visual system, the position, sport and environment you play in and make recommendations for sports-specific refractive corrections (contact lens, performance eyewear), and vision training.

Myopia Control

Myopia, also called nearsightedness or shortsightedness, is the eye condition where objects nearby or a short distance away are clear but objects that are far away are blurred. It is caused by the eye being slightly too long. The Myopia Control Clinic specializes in optometric care of children and young adults with myopia. In addition to providing conventional glasses for clear vision, more importantly our services include options for controlling the progression of myopia (Read more)
