On February 14th, 2020, De-lens Ophthalmics organized the first VISION 2020 GAMES VALENTINE AWARD which focused on making the celebration of the season of love a memorable one for all married couples.
The program was opened to the public and attendees shared thoughts, love stories, opinions and insights to commemorate the special day with their spouse. Couples of varying ages participated actively in the vision games competition for the fun of it and for the maiden De-lens Ophthalmics Eyecare Ambassador Award 2020/21.
During the games, couples had the opportunity to compete against each other and as well as a team on who has a better vision. Games included visual perception games and other vision stimulating games in the Vision Therapy Department.
At the end of each session, couples were interviewed and given the chance to express their love to each other. Renewed proposals, marital vows, laughter and friendship between couples was the highlight of the day.
The CEO of De-lens Ophthalmics Dr Damian Echendu counselled the couples on the importance of good vision care for the family and the need for the public to be sensitized on the health and economic benefits of good vision.
He encouraged the Eyecare Ambassadors to help others especially those in the rural communities to have easy access to eye care and to participate in community eye care developmental programs.
Responding, the winners of the award Mr & Mrs Umoru Jafaru promised to do their best during their reign to bring eye care services to the doors of the less privileged in the society.
